Journal Entry#5 (Week#4)-The Doors

We went to the Re-Store on Saturday (05/16/13) and found two doors to place on both ends of our greenhouse. We've decided to build a glass and wood greenhouse for temperature control in the winter months. Although it doesn't get extreme here in the northwest during winter, we'd like to keep it nice and balmy for our hot house produce like tomatoes, peppers, lemons and sweet potatoes.

We also saw large double-pane windows that open up by cranking a handle that were ridiculously cheap. We could by all of the windows for our greenhouse for under $200. We're planning on sealing the wood to prevent rotting and we're gonna use a clear, wavy durable roofing material to let the sun shine pour in overhead.

It's so exciting just thinking about going to a warm and sunny place in the dead of a northwest winter (which is usually pretty gray, brown and gloomy. We have lots of plans (and DREAMS) ahead so we'll keep ya posted!

Aren't these NICE?! Only $11 for BOTH! We'll paint the white one chocolate to match the other one.

Phil tilled the area beside the greenhouse (on the outside) because this is where we'll plant our red potatoes and pumpkins. Our sweet potatoes will be grown inside due to the fact that they require high temperatures to grow and thrive.

The red potatoes have been planted so we'll see if we did it correctly.
