Welcome! To The Yarbrough Family Greenhouse Journal! We're SO excited about our little greenhouse. We can't wait to share with you the experiences, both bad and good, of owning and maintaining our greenhouse.
We've gone shopping for our initial plants at Farmington Gardens Nursery. It was exciting to pick and choose which plants would be good enough to set up roots in our cozy greenhouse. We were looking for organic starters but we only found some Atlas carrots and some Walla Walla onions. Here's a list of what we took home today:
edible kale
broccoli
tomatoes
lemon tree
sugar snap peas
strawberries
romaine
arugula
black-eyed susans
sweet pea flower
pineapple sage
lavender
When we got them all home and kept them indoors because the weather here in Oregon is always wishy-washy and we didn't want to take any chances. They stayed in the front room right in front of the large window where tons of sun beamed through (the tomatoes LOVED this, the others not so much.) Everything else was wilting so we had to water like crazy to keep them happy and perky. The snap peas were starting to wrap around the sides of the shelving.
We needed to get them into the ground, quick! Weather or not here we come!
